TÜRKİYE PROGRAMME

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

DDD’s Türkiye program is designed to reach the most at‑risk communities in Türkiye, particularly those facing persistent barriers to health care due to age, displacement, geography, or socio‑economic vulnerability. Across its interventions, DDD prioritizes people whose health needs are often unmet—most notably elderly individuals, displaced families, rural and mobile populations, and at‑risk refugees.

NATIONAL HOTLINE

DDD operates a health advice hotline, providing guidance, referrals, and practical information to individuals and families who may otherwise struggle to navigate the health system. The hotline serves as a critical entry point for support, particularly for people living in underserved areas, those with mobility constraints, and individuals facing administrative or financial barriers.

Our counseling hotline provides support in Turkish and Arabic.

MOBILE MEDICAL TEAM

DDD also deploys mobile medical teams to reach populations unable to access fixed health facilities. These teams deliver primary health care and basic psychosocial support to rural communities, agricultural workers, and isolated settlements, ensuring that care reaches people where they live and work, rather than requiring risky or costly travel.

Emergency Response and Disaster Management

DDD has been a first responder to earthquakes in Elazığ and Izmir in 2020, and the 2023 Turkiye Earthquakes. DDD continues to support displacement‑affected communities in Hatay, where many families remain in fragile living conditions and face ongoing disruptions to health and social services. Through mobile outreach and community‑based activities, DDD addresses urgent primary health needs while responding to the longer‑term physical and emotional toll of displacement.

Trainings

A central pillar of DDD’s program is providing support and training for health professionals and public authorities to help them respond to increasingly challenging situation. DDD has provided trainings on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), Psychological First Aid (PFA), gender and cultural training in medical services, health care practices, mental health practices, disaster preparedness and response, and healthy aging, helping ensure safer, more resilient, and more responsive services for vulnerable communities.

Healthy Aging

Responding to Türkiye’s rapidly aging population and the growing prevalence of chronic illnesses, mobility limitations, and psychosocial isolation among older people. DDD works to promote accessible, age‑appropriate primary health care, early identification of health risks, and community‑based support that enables elderly individuals to maintain dignity, independence, and wellbeing.
