Migrant Stories from Istanbul is a powerful collection of personal testimonies from migrants and refugees who have journeyed to Turkey in search of safety, stability, and dignity. Through the lived experiences of parents, workers, musicians, and children from across Africa and the Middle East, this publication reveals the profound challenges of displacement—along with the extraordinary resilience people bring to rebuilding their lives.

The stories highlight the very real impact migration has on human lives, particularly women and children, who often face the greatest barriers to education, documentation, healthcare access, and protection. Many families share experiences of interrupted schooling, limited access to medical services, language barriers, and the struggle to navigate complex legal systems. These accounts show how essential healthcare access, psychosocial support, and protection services are in safeguarding their wellbeing and enabling them to regain stability and hope.

Created by Dünya Doktorları Derneği (DDD) with the support of the European Union, this booklet gives voice to those often unheard and underscores the vital role of solidarity and humanitarian services in helping migrants participate more fully—and more safely—in life in Istanbul.
